Automation is a requirement
With numerous suppliers, administration and local warehouses spread across borders, as well as a shared remote warehouse, the company relies on flexible IT solutions that simplify the financial and logistics function of the enterprise. Logistics has therefore been the biggest challenge for Timic Medical. The solution was an automated ERP system.

Ensuring economic growth
“We wanted a leading supplier with expertise and resources, working on the opportunities of the future. We were in dialogue with several suppliers before the final choice fell on Visma. They were the only supplier that could deliver both finance and logistics in the same cloud-based solution,” says Jan Johannsen, CFO, CFO, CFO, CFO.
Johannsen has many years of experience in the Medtech industry. Prior to this, he worked in the IT sector. He himself has experienced how the right business solutions can streamline and create growth in companies.
Efficiency contributes to scaling
Thyme Medical has big growth ambitions. In 2016, the enterprise had a turnover of about 100 million. The target for 2017 is 125 million.
- To achieve long-term and ambitious goals, it requires more than just organic growth. Investments in modern and forward-looking IT solutions such as the cloud solution Visma Net support this. Efficiency becomes essential for logistics and administration.
Today, the group has a hybrid solution where Timik AS (Norway) uses the ERP system Visma Global, while Sweden, Finland and the parent company are in the cloud with Visma Net Finacials & Logistics.
- The goal is to move the entire company to the cloud during 2018. From today's point of view, it looks promising. The automation of our internal processes has made us more efficient. We are now rigged for larger volumes, without us having to increase the number of staff in administration. The internal processes have become more efficient after we moved logistics to the cloud. Now we have full control over the flow of goods and warehouses. We didn't have that before,” says Johannsen.

Facilitates integrations to other systems
Timik Medical sells mainly to the corporate market, but also some to consumers. - Most orders today arrive by mail. The automated integration between clients in Visma allows orders to be registered only once. The order flow between the companies, the dispatch of goods, the internal invoicing and the invoicing of the customer is then carried out automatically. “Drop shipment” deliveries from the company's central warehouse in Sweden are sent directly to customers.
Choosing the right partner
The main supplier was Visma partner Esit Capstone, based in Hønefoss. In addition, Integration Partner has provided a very agile and good solution for the automation of logistics internally between the companies.
- The choice of Vismpartnerner was really a bit random. Through relationships and contacts in the industry, we heard a lot of positive things about Ekit Capstone, and then the choice was easy. Ekit Capstone has been a very good support along the way throughout the process. We feel like we've been prioritised all the way. It is thanks to them that the transition has been so painless. We are very pleased,” Johannsen says.
Visma software is always available and updated
As of today, the company has just under 40 employees. The employees are located in different countries, and are highly dependent on having a system that is available and up to date at all times. Another advantage that the management in the enterprise points to as positive is that the systems are now updated automatically.
- We do not have to spend time and resources on new application versions and consulting support. Now we always have the latest version of the software. Visma updates the system monthly. This allows us to access new functionality and improvements faster than normal. In addition, it feels safe that a company like Visma handles security for us, Johannsen adds.
Integrated webshop
- We also have a webshop in each country. These will be linked directly to the ERP system during the autumn. This will increase efficiency, and will be important for the future. By moving logistics to the cloud, we've reduced costs drastically. For example, we no longer need to maintain server parks in the different countries,” says Johannsen.
Good prospects for the future with a financial system in the cloud
Johannsen is pleased to have moved the company's finance and logistics management to the cloud, and looks forward to new improvements and solutions. - We have got off to a good start. It is clear that a transition from earth to cloud is not painless and we are still waiting for some improvements. But we know this is only a matter of time. All in all, we are very satisfied, concludes Johannsen.
